Welcome to Altus First Assembly of God

God has blessed Altus First Assembly of God.  When several home prayer groups combined in the early 1930's, the people involved felt the Lord leading them to move downtown and organize a Pentecostal witness in Altus.  They applied to the Assemblies of God for recognition and fellowship.  Altus Assembly of God was formally recognized by the General Council on September 3, 1938, This year marks the 70th Anniversary of Altus First Assembly.  It is most appropriate to plan for a celebration to give glory to God for His blessings and anointing in the Holy Spirit in every service.  Jesus is here!

From the earliest beginnings, Altus First Assembly has been dedicated to reaching people with the gospel at home and around the world.  From the downtown square, the church moved to W. Commerce as a permanent location. A fire destroyed that facility on February 2, 1981.  Under the leader ship of Rev. Carl McCoy, the church rebuilt on the main Altus AFB access road at 1400 Falcon Road.

Following Rev. McCoys retirement Dr. Richard Ventonis came to Altus in December of 1983 to serve as pastor and God blessed his ministry and the church continued to fulfill its obligations to the gospel under his leadership. Pastor Ventonis' recent retirement has now opened the door to our new pastor.

Pastor Thomas and his family came to be with us July 1, 2008 and we trust that God will continue to shine his favor upon our church as we move forward into God's plan.

First Assembly continues as a center for renewal, healing, revival and ministry in Altus and around the world. . In 2003, we added 1409 Falcon as a Children's ministries outreach facility.  Join us in celebrating under the anointing of the Holy Spirit!
